TROOP 175 COMMUNICATION PROCESS

Questions about events and procedures - Most questions can be answered by a scout's Patrol Leader. If the Patrol Leader cannot answer the question, the Senior Patrol Leader should then be contacted. In this manner, the junior leaders develop responsible attitudes toward the importance of proper communication.

If your question is urgent, or of a sensitive nature, then call the Scoutmaster directly (954-846-2132).

Weekly Callaround - at the end of each week's meeting, Patrol Leaders are given information about the next week's meeting. Each scout should receive a call from their Patrol Leader by Sunday evening letting him know important information about the next meeting.

Hotline – every Sunday, the hotline will be updated with highlights for the upcoming week. The hotline is also used for last minute announcements such as revised return times following a campout. The Troop Hotline Number is 954-846-7783

Website - this contains long range calendar, general information about the troop, detailed information about major upcoming events, and helpful links for such items as merit badges, tour permits, life to eagle information, etc.. The Web site is updated monthly, so it may not always be the most up-to-date source of information. The troop Website is http://www.micco.org/t175.

Email – this is used to communicate none urgent type of information using a quick low cost method. Unfortunately, email is not the most reliable means of communication because not everyone checks their email frequently and because of people sometimes experience problems with the email accounts (mailbox full, software issues, change address, antispam settings). Still, we find that email is the preferred means of communication with many people in the troop. Everyone should make sure that the troop has their current email address. Updates to email should be made at http://micco.org/t175/register.html. Also, each person who wants to be on distribution for emails should insure that their email SPAM filter is set to allow emails from the official troop email address - T175@nexlook.com . Anyone who would like to have a message broadcast to the troop via email, should allow one week for the troop to process the email. Send request to T175@nexlook.com.

Handouts - Scouts receive information and handouts during the weekly meetings. These are intended to keep the scouts and parents informed of troop activities and plans. Some announcements made at the meeting may not be accompanied by written information. Please ask your scout about the events of the meetings, and ask him about any announcements which may have been made.
