Scoutmaster's
Comments
Scouts, I hope you've had an enjoyable and restful
summer. This year there will be a few minor changes
to the program. One change is that we will have a
sign up sheet for Scoutmaster's Conferences. The sheet
will be out at each troop meeting. You just need to write
down your name, the current date and the rank that you
are working on. After you do this I will schedule
your conference with myself or one of the A.S.M.s. There is also
a form with some questions that I want you
to complete prior to the conference. I'll have the forms
at the troop meetings. There is a link to
the Scoutmaster Conference Sheet in the resource section of
this website (or click
here
). It should only take about 30 minutes to complete the
questions on the form. The questions are reflective and intended to help you think
about your scouting experience. Bring your completed form to your conference.
Troop
Photo Gallery:
Mr. Fuentes has created a collection of pictures from troop activities
that can be viewed at:
http://troop175.shutterfly.com/action
The photos are cataloged in individual albums of specific events and
activities, with dates, for easy reference. Here you can view the pictures
as a slide show, add comments, add your own photos of the event and
even order prints directly from them. Shutterfly is a commercial photo
service that allows you to create these collections to be shared with
others in the hope that prints, enlargements and other products will
be ordered from them. Mr. Fuentes has added several albums since the
collection was created last week, and will continue to add several more,
so bookmark the url and go back to it sometime to see new albums. Again,
a great feature of the site is that allows other to add their own pictures
to the collection so that everyone can share the photos with the entire
troop without having to email large attachments or make CD's. Please
feel free to do so and share your pictures.

Troop
Communication Policy - communication is key to a well run
troop. With today's technology there are many methods available to communicate
with Scouts, Scouters, and parents. Some options are better suited for
urgent messages and some options are better suited for none urgent messages.
Please read the troop communications
page for the way the troop will communicate with members going forward.

MESSAGES
FROM ADVANCEMENT CHAIRPERSON
To
All Life Scouts:
Please advise & show the Advancement Chairperson your Eagle booklet
when you have completed all requirements. Also
please gives us ALL NAMES & HOURS of all Scouts that help you in
your Eagle Service Project. So the Scouts can get credit for your Eagle
Service Project.
All Scouts should keep track in your Scout Handbook of all Service Project,
Activities, and Camping overnight.
To All Scouts:
Anyone who is a Den Chief, will have to have their Den Chief Handbook
filled out completely. Then show the Advancement Chairperson your Handbook
before being awarded a Den Chief Award at the Court of Honor. You can
purchase this Handbook at South Florida Council, in Miami.

MEDICAL FORMS
MUST BE ON FILE TO GO CAMPING!
A YELLOW medical form (CLASS 2 or 3) must be on file with troop in order
to go camping. All the current medicals that are not expired will be
honored. All YELLOW medicals forms must be stamped and signed by the
doctor. Please then give the YELLOW form to Mrs. Guidry. In accordance
with BSA policy, we make copies of the medical for the SMIC and they
are carried to the camping site. It is extremely important that ALL
campers ( boys and adults) have medical when camping with the Troop.
Please check with Mrs. Guidry NOW for any future camping trips. Thank
you for supporting our Scouts

MERIT
BADGE COUNSELORS:
Troop 175 prides itself in our
merit badge program, offering counselors for many
merit badges. Please listen for ongoing announcements during troop meetings
of classes being offered, and check your email for important information.
If you would like to take a class
this is not being offered, please ask a buddy to join you and then ask
Mr. Titner to match your request with a counselor.

Attention Troop
175 Scouts!
Your troop is working very hard to provide the Merit Badge opportunities
that you want and need for advancement. We need your help! If you have
partial Merit Badges (no matter how long ago you started them) you are
responsible for bringing in the current Merit Badge book, reports, and
materials required to each troop meeting until they are completed. We
will arrange counselors to work with you in order to get the most out
of your Merit Badge Experience. Don't miss this opportunity to complete
those last few Merit Badge requirements and move onto other exciting
Merit Badges.
IMPORTANT TROOP 175 MERIT BADGE
NOTICES
#1 Every scout must have his own Merit Badge book for each badge that
he is taking. Once the merit badge is completed and recorded, the scout
may give, loan, keep or exchange with the troop library the used merit
badge book. It is the responsibility of the scout to obtain the needed
merit badge book from the Scout Shop, troop library, or through other
BSA Supply. Sharing of merit badge books are no longer permitted while
taking a merit badge. The goal is to enhance the merit badge experience
by making more effective use of the merit badge book. Please note that
the BOY SCOUT REQUIREMENTS BOOK is NOT a substitute for a Merit Badge
book.
#2 The front of the Blue Card MUST be signed before a Scout can begin
any new merit badges. Number of partials and time requirements will
be taken into consideration.
