2004 SCOUTMASTERS CAMPOREE

Troops from all of South Florida and throughout the state come to SMC for fellowship and to show their scouting skills.

Troop 175 made a fine showing at this years event. The troop brought home the following awards.

  • Chili Cookoff - 1st Place Scouts Competition
  • 1st Place Gateway - Section D
  • 1st Place Campsite - Section D

Approximately 200 Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts climbed the rope ladders of our gateway to get a birds eye view of Scoutmasters Camporee. Scouts of Troop 175 are to be commended for daring to build the largest, most complex gateway of the camp and they did so with cheerful determination and solid pioneering skills. Some of our scouts were responsible for campsite preparations. These scouts helped us to score higher than we had in several years in campsite inspection.

The Scouts and their family were treated to a wonderful BBQ feast on Saturday night. Mr. Hindsman did a great job as SMIC for this years camporee. Mucho gratitude should be given to Mr. Hindsman for the incredible amount of time that he put into this event. From cutting bamboo with Mr. V. and Marcello, to hauling the bamboo to practice events to the Camporee, as well as planning, cooking the BBQ, and much, much, more. Gratitude also to Mrs. Pietroluongo, Mrs. Guidry, Mrs. Sander, Mrs. C., Mr. Peyton, Mr. McCoy, Marcello, Mr. Vajanyi, Jonathan Landmesser, Chris Rubio, John Vajanyi, Mr. Kay, Michael Kay, Mr. Joe Pietroluongo, Mr. and Mrs Capraro, Michael and David Estler, and others I am sure I failed to mentioned. These people were very supportive of this event and are deserving of a heartfelt THANK YOU from Troop 175!
